Herbie has a career focused on providing accessible and equitable opportunities to high school age students, particularly those traditionally underserved and overlooked by the education system. Since 2006, he has worked with organizations and schools to prepare high school students for a college education; find the right match for their needs, talents, and interests, and support them in the application and enrollment process.

His college admissions success included developing summer enrichment programs with Ivy League Colleges, HBCU’s, & international partnerships with the State Department. Later, establishing Las Vegas as a recruitment hub for colleges with the planning and hosting of multiple fairs a year and lobbying in Washington D.C. for federal funding increases to support low-income students. His holistic approach to transforming students’ schools and lives emphasizes college readiness and positive leadership, fostering a culture of engagement and giving students the tools and confidence to excel. He focuses on the vital role of parent engagement, and he prioritizes open communication with families throughout a student’s high school career.

In addition to a BA in Public Policy & African-American Studies from the University of Maryland and a Masters of Public Administration from the University of Nevada, Herbie holds certifications in college admissions and counseling from the University of California, Los Angeles. His experience makes him an expert resource for establishing, evaluating, and improving programs focused on exciting students about college, preparing them for the rigors of higher education, and refining their applications for scholarships and admission. To date, Herbie had helped hundreds of students fulfill their potential and achieve their goals. As a consultant, Herbie brings his expertise to other students, identifying the colleges that are right for them and serving as a coach for admissions interviews, applications, and essay writing.
